Senior Administration

The Senior Administration at The DC Arts Center provides visionary leadership and strategic direction to ensure the organization’s continued growth, impact, and artistic excellence. Led by the Executive Director this team oversees all aspects of DCAC’s operations, from programming and fundraising to community engagement and financial sustainability. Committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive arts environment, they drive institutional innovation, support artists, and champion the organization’s mission. With a focus on both big-picture strategy and day-to-day operations, the Senior Administration ensures DCAC remains a vital hub for creativity and cultural expression.

Sean Elias

  • Sean Elias is an award-winning director and visionary arts leader who has led record-breaking growth and transformative change at every institution he has helmed. As Executive Director of The DC Arts Center, he secured the funding and led the organization’s first-ever full facility renovation, overseeing the project from concept to completion within just his second year. Additionally, Sean modernized and digitized all operations, established new revenue streams, significantly increased contributed revenue, and spearheaded a bold institutional rebrand—positioning DCAC for a new era of impact. As Artistic Director of Iron Crow Theatre, Baltimore’s award-winning professional queer theatre, he has overseen the company’s most explosive period of expansion, directing the highest-selling and highest-grossing play and musical in its history while elevating the theatre’s national profile. Previously, he founded and chaired the internationally recognized Performing Arts Department at the Jemicy School, directing multiple award-winning productions, including internationally acclaimed performances at the International Thespian Festival. A sought-after arts leader and advocate, Sean has served on the Maryland State Arts Council’s Review Board and the LGBTQ Cultural Advisory Board of Visit Baltimore. His work as a director and performer spans Off-Broadway, national tours, and regional theatre, earning him recognition as a Tony Award-nominated educator, and award-winning artist. Sean holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre Performance from The University of the Arts and an M.A. in Theatre Education from Emerson College.

  • A collaborative and experienced arts administrator, program manager, and educator, River brings 17 years of success in operational efficiency, program development, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership. With a cross-industry perspective, they expertly navigate complex systems with meticulous attention to detail and clear communication, driving both administrative and artistic growth.

    Fluent in four languages, River applies a global and human-centered approach to leadership with all constituents, fostering inclusive, dynamic environments that empower artists and communities.

Arts Associates

Arts Associates are essential to the daily operations of The DC Arts Center, ensuring a welcoming and seamless experience for patrons, artists, and visitors alike. This role supports exhibitions, theatrical performances, educational programming, and special events while also handling key administrative tasks. From staffing the gallery and assisting guests to providing box office support and maintaining the facility, Arts Associates play a hands-on role in keeping DCAC running smoothly. With a team-focused mindset, they step in wherever needed to help the organization thrive.

    Walker Green is the founder and Executive Producer of Rails Comedy, DC’s only theater dedicated to sketch and improv comedy, and co-founder of DC Sketchfest, the city’s only sketch comedy festival. He studied Theater and Government & Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park, and trained at The Second City, iO Theater, and Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Walker’s past works include writing and directing REVOLT (2019) at The Clarice Performing Arts Center and founding Maryland Night Live, a popular comedy production at UMD.

    Milan Warner is a multimedia artist based in Maryland, primarily working in sculpture. She spent her most formative years in a provincial area of the Philippines which informs much of her current work. She completed her BA in studio art from the University of Maryland in the summer of 2021. In August 2021, Warner participated as an artist in residence at Franconia Sculpture Park in Shafer, Minnesota where she completed her first public sculpture. From January to May of 2022, she was short-term artist resident at the Arlington Art Center (now the Museum of Contemporary Art  Arlington) in Virginia. She is currently now a long-term resident at MoCA Arlington, where she continues to expand her body of work.

Visual Arts Committee

The Visual Arts Committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the artistic vision of The DC Arts Center. Composed of dedicated volunteers, staff, and board members, this committee reviews artist applications, provides curatorial direction, and actively recruits new talent to showcase in DCAC’s gallery. Committed to fostering diverse and thought-provoking visual art experiences, the committee ensures that DCAC remains a dynamic platform for emerging and established artists in Washington, DC, and beyond.
